New Liebherr logistics centre in Germany
Liebherr has began construction of a new logistics centre near Kirchdorf an der Iller in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.
The new global centre for spare parts will initially be for its earthmoving machinery but in the longer term will also be the hub for other divisions including excavators, telescopic handlers, material handlers and deep foundation equipment.
The €100 million first phase will be completed in the third quarter of 2014 including site development, erection of the 47,000 square metre logistics warehouse and separate offices. The site should be operational within the third quarter of 2015.
When the whole development is complete, Liebherr will have a warehouse area of about 170,000 square metres as well as 4,500 square metres of offices on the 36 hectare/89 acre site.
The site is very close to the A7 autobahn with room for further expansion. It is also close to a large number of Liebherr construction machinery plants in Southern Germany, Austria and France.
