Bennetts erects first ever Raimondi luffing LR213 in London
A new Raimondi LR213 luffing crane was erected in London, England, by Bennetts Cranes Limited (Bennetts). The LR213, purchased by Henry Construction, was erected freestanding with 83m of tower and a 44.5m jib over a period of two days, immediately followed by testing and inspections. “Bennetts manned the erection of the crane and provide full technical support and maintenance for the crane,” said Edward Seager, founder and Managing Director, Bennetts.
“We have worked closely with Henry Construction (HCPL) for a number of years, having supplied numerous cranes to them on a variety of different jobsites. We currently have 22 cranes erected in and around London on HCPL sites with new sites due to start early in the new year continuing throughout 2018,” Seager added.
Located in the heart of Wembley, London, the project is a mixed-use development by HUB that includes 239 apartments, retail space with commercial use, and a community center with car and cycle parking. It includes a 21 and a 26 story block which will be the tallest towers in Wembley. The LR213, scheduled to be operational onsite for approximately two years, will be used to lift falsework/formwork, concrete skips, rubbish skips, and boat skips. During the later parts of the construction program, the crane will be put to work lifting bricks, blocks, plasterboard and other site materials as required.
“With the crane free standing 83m and including four different types of tower sections within the tower build, we were pleased to complete the full crane erection in two days. This indicates a smooth and timely installation; a credit to Raimondi’s quality manufacturing. In addition, Raimondi’s headquarters also flew in a technician who remained onsite with the Bennetts team for the duration of the installation process.” The LR213 has an out-of-service radius of 17.6m with a 44.5m jib which was paramount in ensuring the client did not encroach on any neighboring properties, Seager explained regarding innovative solution application on the jobsite.
“We are encountering this issue more often, especially in and around London. The ability to park at 17.6m when out of service and freestand to the height of 83m made the LR213 the perfect choice for the job. It avoids oversailing with the neighbors, and avoids having to tie into the building thereby preventing any complications for our client.”
