Electric Overhead Travelling Crane for TURBOCAM
TURBOCAM are an international turbomachinery development and manufacturing company with sites in USA, Canada, India, Taiwan and across Europe. Pelloby was recently commissioned by TURBOCAM’s UK business division to provide an electric overhead travelling crane for their premises at Fareham.
Electric overhead travelling crane
TURBOCAM required a solution to lift tools to serve several 5-axis machines at their Hampshire factory. Pelloby’s design and production teams put together a 1.6 tonne single girder electric overhead travelling crane system, with accompanying 18m supporting gantry framework.
This steelwork was carried by eight single columns and attached directly to the workshop floor with resin anchor bolts that were carefully selected to suit the thickness of the concrete onsite. Additional bracing was added to the end of the gantry steelwork to improve the rigidity of the structure.
The 6.2m travelling beam supported an electric CPV chain hoist allowing a 5m height of lift. A radio control system was specified to operate all directions of travel and a spare remote transmitter was also supplied.
Crane installation in Hampshire
Pelloby project managed the delivery and erection of the crane and also carried out final commissioning to ensure the system was safe for general use.
TURBOCAM’s crane was one of Pelloby’s first of installations of 2017, passing its final testing commissioning at the client’s site in Hampshire in mid-January.
