Larry Weyers named president of Manitowoc Cranes

Eric Etchart is stepping down from his role of president at Manitowoc Cranes and into a vice president role as part of The Manitowoc Company’s succession plan for Etchart’s upcoming retirement.

Etchart has served as president of the cranes business for the past eight years. He has a planned retirement in the coming years, according to a prepared statement from Manitowoc chairman and CEO Glen Tellock.

Etchart will assume duties as senior vice president for business development at Manitowoc. Larry Weyers will succeed him as president of the cranes division.

Weyers has been with the company 16 years and most recently served as global executive vice president for the cranes division.

“Eric has played an integral role in enhancing Manitowoc’s leadership globally. His leadership has helped position the Crane segment as a market leader evidenced by the segment’s ability to deliver innovative products and technologies, execute operational excellence initiatives and expand its global footprint,” Tellock said of Etchart’s career. “Mr. Weyers’ proven leadership, deep knowledge of the global crane market, and ability to execute on operational goals will undoubtedly support our Crane segment’s ongoing success.”

Manitowoc also announced the planned retirement of Mark Beffel, vice president of operational excellence. Befell will step aside February 2 and the company has tapped Josef Matosevic as his replacement. The VP of operational excellence leads the company’s manufacturing, quality and safety initiatives.
