Four straddle carriers, one STS ordered by Lyttleton, one STS and three straddle carriers delivered to Tauranga.
Liebherr Container Cranes has received an order from the Port of Lyttleton, New Zealand, for four straddle carriers and a new super post-Panamax ship-to-shore (STS) crane.
With this recent order, the Port of Lyttleton, located on New Zealand’s South Island in Christchurch, will increase the number of Liebherr straddle carriers to eight and the total of STS cranes at the port to three.
Meanwhile, the Port of Tauranga on New Zealand’s North Island has recently taken possession of a new Liebherr super post-Panamax STS crane and three new Liebherr straddle carriers. The cranes took centre stage in a ceremony to celebrate the opening of its new170-metre wharf extension in Tauranga’s Sulphur Point Wharf.
The Port of Tauranga will continue to expand with the arrival of a seventh Liebherr STS crane early next year, bringing the total number of Liebherr STS cranes on the North Island, including the two cranes located at Centreport, Wellington, to nine.
The cranes join a fleet of 20 Liebherr mobile harbour cranes in operation across New Zealand and Australia.
