Liebherr LHM 800 ready for business
With a Liebherr LHM 800 mobile harbour crane installed at the end of September 2015, the first phase of construction at Russia’s new deepwater Port of Bronka is now complete.
“We are using the crane at both our container and ro-ro terminals for loading heavy cargo. Given the increasing size and greater weight of industrial plant components, we are optimally positioned for the future,” explained Port of Bronka managing director Alexei Shukletsov.
In addition to the LHM 800, the port has four Liebherr ship-to-shore gantry cranes and ten rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes, which were delivered to the gateway from Konecranes in Finland.
The port also houses number of roll-trailers, as well as two rail sidings. Work is now complete to link the rail tracks to Bronka Marshalling Yard, 1.3 km from the port, and the Russian rail network. The extension of the yard is scheduled for completion at the end of December, said the port.
