The International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), the most important North American trade fair in the field of the manufacturing technology, takes place from 10 to 15 September 2012 in the McCormick Place Convention Center in Chicago.
This year, Liebherr will be showing interested experts new and innovative products in the fields of gear manufacturing technology and automation systems on two exhibition stands.
The new LFG 1000 profile grinding machine and the LCS 500 hobbing and profile grinding machine can be seen at Stand 6930 in the North Hall. The LFG 1000 was specially developed for the finishing of hardened, large-module gearwheels, such as those in the main gear unit of wind power plants for example.
Liebherr products in the field of automation will be shown at Stand 8974 in the South Hall. The highlight this year will be the exhibition of a robot cell for workpiece handling, so-called “pin picking” automation. The robot extracts and positions workpieces arranged chaotically in a crate. By using innovative image processing software and an additional eighth axis on the robot, it is now possible to separate complicated, asymmetrical workpieces from a container and to empty the container completely.
Furthermore, the rotary loading system RLS 800 will be shown as an example of Liebherr pallet handling systems. The RLS is designed for customers who are planning a low-cost system solution for their entry into high-efficiency production.
