Link-Belt has approved the use of Samson K-100 synthetic crane hoist line on its telescopic cranes.

Samson K-100 is the first synthetic hoist rope designed specifically for mobile cranes. Since its introduction to the industry in 2014, K-100 has been successfully performing across four continents, and remains the first and only OEM-approved, commercially operating synthetic crane hoist cable for mobile cranes in the market.

With the addition of Link-Belt, K-100 is approved for use on selected crane models from five manufacturers, and is available through Samson distributors.

“Samson is excited that Link-Belt has reviewed K-100 and determined that it is fit for use on their equipment.  This continues the industry trend toward wire-rope replacement, putting synthetic rope on more crane models, and allows customers that have diverse fleets more opportunity to leverage the benefits of K-100 in their operations.  We want to thank Link-Belt for their support of this technology,” said Michelle Jarvis, Samson’s marketing strategy manager.

Link-Belt’s current approval extends to retrofitting the hoist lines on telescoping cranes. The hoist line must be sized appropriately, based on line-pull requirements (with a design factor of 5:1), and installed in accordance with K-100 guidelines provided by Samson.

K-100 is a lightweight alternative to traditional steel-wire rope. It provides multiple benefits for safe, easy, and efficient handling.  With the same line pull and load chart as wire, K-100 can be used with a 5:1 design factor.  It is 80% lighter than steel-wire rope, making handling, reeving, and installation faster and safer. K-100 does not rust and requires no lubricating.

The unique construction eliminates kinking, birdcaging, and damage caused by diving on the winch drum.  Because of its torque-neutral construction, K-100 eliminates load spin and cabling.
