Mammoet completes major milestone for Gulf Coast Project

1 min read

Mammoet has completed a major milestone with the installation of the Main Cryogenic Heat Exchanger MCHE), considered to be the heart of train one, at a liquefaction project along the U.S. Gulf Coast.

The lift of the MCHE, which weighed a total of 650,000 lbs. (295 tonnes), was a dual lift utilizing a Terex-Demag CC-2800 crawler crane as the main crane and a Liebherr LR-1300sx crawler crane on the tail. The inclement weather was a source of many challenges including broadening the travel path for transport, smoothing the roads, and re-doing the crane pads and travel path after storms had moved through.
