Manitowoc’s partner Dongyue Heavy Machinery launch Dongyue GT8 and Dongyue GT10A
Manitowoc’s partner Dongyue Heavy Machinery, in TaiAn, China has launched two truck cranes, the Dongyue GT8 and Dongyue GT10A. Geared towards 8 and 10t-capacity truck crane demand in China, GT8 truck crane is in the 8t capacity class, and the GT10A truck crane is in the 10t capacity class.
Both cranes have manual hydraulic controls designed for simplicity and ease of use. The booms are also of a simple, four-plate design. The cranes are provided with control panels showing feedback from devices such as a height limiter, a locking valve, and a level indicator.
Robin Zhang, production manager at Manitowoc Dongyue Heavy Machinery, said the GT8 was designed, improving over predecessor cranes, to have 20% less tailswing than similarly-classed cranes.
The GT8, with its 17.4m main boom, a 6m jib, and height of 23.9m, can lift 1.3t at a 5m radius. The boom can be fully extended in 35 seconds.
A single FAW engine produces 450Nm of torque at 1,400 rpm.
The larger capacity GT10A truck crane’s 19.9m main boom can be extended fully in just 40 seconds. With a jib attachment, the crane’s reach is increased to 25.8m. Both lifting and driving power come from an FAW engine that has a 101 kW rating at 2,500 rpm.
The GT10A’s fastest hoisting speeds reach 105 m/min and its top road speed is 74km/h. It weights 11.3t. The cranes are being built at the newly modernized TaiAn factory.
The companies have updated the factory’s production processes in line with systems used at other Manitowoc facilities, by redesigning the factory floor and adding a paint line. The design process at the TaiAn factory has also been updated, incorporating Solidworks CAD software. Earlier this year Manitowoc introduced its 20t maximum capacity Potain MCT 385 topless tower, targeting the entire Asian market.
The topless tower crane, MCT 385, with a maximum load moment capacity of nearly 400tm, is Potain’s first topless crane to be produced at its Zhangjiagang, China facility. The dimensions of the MCT 385 give it a width of 2m and a maximum freestanding height of 64.9m. The hook height can be 50 m above the last anchor points. The crane can be erected with 3.33m or 5m inserts.
Seven of the new towers have been working on residential projects for Manitowoc’s Singapore and Hong Kong-based dealer, Manta Engineering and Equipment.
