Riwal, the aerial work platform and telehandler rental specialist, has launched a sustainable innovation by converting a JLG 1200SJP telescopic boom lift from diesel to electric powered.

Riwal, a leading global specialist in access equipment rental and sales, has shown once again that it is able to customise equipment from renowned manufacturers such as JLG to match specific needs for its customers. The conversion of the JLG 1200SJP was done by replacing the diesel engine and the fuel tank with an electric engine, battery pack, charger and controls of the electric engine.

The key features of the JLG 1200SJP, such as 38M working height and 23M horizontal outreach, combined with the electric power source, provides Riwal customers with a strong solution enabling them to work in a safe and productive way while at the same time generating zero emissions and drastically reduced noise levels. Customers are able to work at much greater height for indoor uses or in areas where restricted noise levels apply, such as residential areas.

The new machine will be added to Riwal’s rental fleet but more machines are being converted which will also be sold to other rental companies as well as end users.

Norty Turner, Riwal CEO comments: “Riwal’s vision is to deliver the best customer experience in the industry and the JLG 1200SJP Electric by Riwal is an excellent example of how we translate this vision into practice. Innovation is about trying new things to take your company and your industry to new heights and to achieve things that have not been done before to show what is possible. At Riwal we believe in doing exactly that. Creating the world’s first 100% electric 38M machine is an innovation of which we are proud to bring to the access industry.
