Schmidbauer takes delivery of powerful 450 tonne LTM 1450-8.1 fast-erecting crane at Liebherr plant in Ehingen

Crane and heavy haulage contractor Schmidbauer is freshening up its fleet with a large number of Liebherr mobile cranes of all sizes – from the LTC 1050-3.1 compact crane to the newly developed LTM 1650-8.1 heavy duty crane with delivery scheduled for 2021. At the beginning of April, Werner Schmidbauer took delivery of the powerful LTM 1450-8.1 crane from Ehingen.

“This 450 tonne new crane adds a particularly flexible and economic machine to our fleet, which features all the latest technology”, explains Werner Schmidbauer, the company Chairman. “Its short set-up times, 85 metre boom and VarioBallast® and VarioBase® systems make the crane extremely versatile.” The LTM 1450-8.1 can drive on public roads with an axle load of 12 tonnes, carrying the complete telescopic boom, all outriggers and the complete hoisting winch. It is designed for fast, simple set-up at the site and can be readied for action within moments.

Schmidbauer will mainly use the 8-axle crane in the petrochemicals industry and for erecting tower cranes. The 450-tonne crane will replace an LTM 1400-7.1. “We have a complete portfolio of Liebherr mobile cranes. We are already looking forward to taking delivery of our new flagship, an LTM 1650-8.1”, says Werner Schmidbauer. The 650 tonne crane is designed for maximum performance and was first unveiled at the Bauma in 2019.

Schmidbauer and Liebherr have a strong partnership dating back decades. The crane and heavy haulage contractor is based in Gräfelfing near Munich and has a workforce of 600. Schmidbauer carries out hoisting and heavy load work of all types throughout Germany and even beyond.
