Sims Crane Becomes Largest Tadano AT Owner in North America
With the recent delivery of 17 Tadano all-terrain cranes, Sims Crane & Equipment, Tampa, Fla., reports it has become the largest Tadano AT crane owner in North America. Sims also is the first Tadano AT owner in the United States.
During 2015, the company has taken delivery of 29 Tadano AT and rough-terrain cranes, part of a $35 million outlay for new equipment. This includes eight 75-ton capacity ATF 70G AT cranes; two 110-ton ATF 100Gs; four 160-ton ATF 130Gs; one 200-ton ATF 180G crane; two 250-ton ATF 220Gs; two 100-ton capacity GR-1000XL RT cranes; four 55-ton GR-550XL cranes; and six 75-ton GR-750XLs.
The company expects to further expand its AT and RT inventory with the arrival of four more GR-1000XLs and another ATF 220G by the end of 2015 or early in 2016. Sims’ acquisition of the Tadano cranes, with an investment of more than $75 million in new equipment, is part of a three-year focus on equipment availability.
“With manufacturers around the world producing only limited supplies of new equipment, we are bidding for cranes that might otherwise end up in Europe, China, India, or the Middle East,” said Dean Sims II, vice president of marketing. “As global crane demand outpaces supply, our goal is to bring that equipment to Florida and give our state a growth advantage.”
