Sommer and Spallek lift with Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2
Crane contractors Sommer-Kranverleih and Autokrane-Spallek utilised two Liebherr LTM 1300-6.2 mobile cranes to complete the dismantling of three concrete supports of a road bridge near Osnabrück, Germany.
The demolition team had just two nights to remove the concrete supports and the railway track beneath the bridge was shut to traffic for two days.
The 300-tonne capacity Liebherr mobile cranes were positioned on both sides of a railway track approximately 8 m below the bridge. The cranes’ attachment equipment was secured to each half of the 80-tonne concrete supports, which measured 2 m in height, before work began to cut the supports in the centre and at the abutments using a diamond-tipped wall saw.
The crane drivers then had to work with precision to ensure that the freely suspended sections of the support, measuring around 15 m in length, did not tilt. The project was made more challenging due to adverse weather conditions, including sub-zero temperatures and thick fog at the site.
According to Liebherr, Sommer-Kranverleih from Bremen and Autokrane-Spallek from Ibbenbüren, Germany, have fleets that comprise of approximately a dozen cranes each, all of which have been supplied by the Liebherr plant in Ehingen.
