“Delivering a new crane model is always a special event. This is why we were so excited about handing over the first Terex® Superlift 3800 lattice boom crawler crane to our long-time good customer from Trier, Steil Kranarbeiten GmbH,” reports Matthias Mayer, Sales Director Germany at Terex Cranes.
It is also why General Manager Birgit Steil, accompanied by Reinhard Kiebel, workshop manager, René Perlich,team leader heavy cranes and Karl Trippel, technical director, took the opportunity to personally pick up her new crane at the Terex Zweibrücken facility in April 2013. “The crane’s design as a whole was what ultimately led to our decision – with a design optimized for transportation and its powerful performance characteristics, this new machine will allow us to tap into a variety of new industrial and wind power potentials,” explains Mrs. Steil. Also, from Steil’s perspective, Terex has developed a good design between the crane sizes of the CC 2800 and the CC 6800 with the new Superlift 3800. “Its lifting capacity, which is larger than that of our CC 2800-1 crawler cranes, will enable us to expand the range of services we offer” she says.
In order to be able to cover a very wide range of applications, Steil ordered the crane with a 159 meter LSL and 12-meter LF configuration. “This crane enables us to tap into new markets and customers throughout all of Europe,” said Mrs. Steil. The Superlift 3800 crawler crane was placed on a wind farm at Gödenroth straight after it was delivered.
About the Terex® Superlift 3800 crawler crane
The 650 tonne (716 US t) Terex Superlift 3800 lattice boom crawler crane features a maximum load moment of 8.426 meter tonnes and is designed to provide its owners outstanding return of investment. This unit is designed for worldwide transportation and to reduce erection times and the need for additional equipment. A wide array of safety features, including the award winning Terex fall protection system, come standard. The Superlift 3800 can be delivered with an integrated wind kit in a universal main boom system: the crane is capable to erect wind turbines of 117 meters (384 ft) without using the available superlift boom configuration. Also, an assist crane is not required to help erect the main boom in this configuration. The Superlift 3800 is the first Terex crawler crane to feature the new Terex cabin design. Providing operators with an excellent working environment, it was developed with extensive feedback gathered from customer workshops, leading industrial stylists and experts in ergonomics. The Superlift 3800 conforms to both the European norm EN 13000 and the US standard ASME B30.5. It can lift a maximum load of 650 tonnes (716 US t) at a radius of 5 to 12 meters (16 to 39 ft).
