Tony Vasil, a well-known figure in the US shipping business, has joined the Port of Albany as manager, business development and marketing.
Prior to taking up his new role, Vasil’s company, A. J. Vasil Associates, Inc, performed international sales, marketing, trade development and port promotion services for the Port of Albany for 25 years.
The firm also worked for a number of other US ports, as well as the Port of Genoa in Italy.
Earlier in his career, Vasil was a partner at a New York City-based steamship agency and held marketing and management positions with the Santa Fe Railway and Illinois Central Gulf Railroad.
He was also president of the Railway Industrial Clearance Association (RICA) and the National Export Traffic League of New York (NETL).
