UNIC URW 376 mini crane hired to help build a new train maintenance
A UNIC URW 376 mini crane was hired to help build a new train maintenance shed at a London Underground railway depot recently.
The 2.9 tonne capacity spider crane lifted 4 metre long beams to create the steel skeleton for the maintenance building at Neasden depot which will be used for work on the S Stock fleet of London Underground tube trains.
The UNIC spider crane was positioned in between the tracks to lift the 320kg steel beams into position for the installation team on access platforms to fix into place. The URW-376 model had the lifting capacity and reach to work at a 7 metre radius and lift to a 10.2 metre height.
UNIC mini cranes have been approved for use on railway infrastructure construction and maintenance projects in the UK and have full Network Rail Product Acceptance. Spider cranes have been used for glazing, steel erection, platform upgrades and more unusual jobs such as installing a decorative clock and a war memorial at London’s Kings Cross station.
