Liebherr takes Chilean order
Ireland-based Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd is to supply three ship-to-shore (STS) container cranes to Chile’s Terminal Pacífico Sur Valparaíso.
With an outreach of 62m and a safe working load of 65 tonnes under twin-lift spreader, these cranes are the largest that Liebherr has ever built for the west coast of America.
They feature the latest security and control technologies and ergonomic operator cabins, as well as an integrated remote monitoring system allowing for efficient crane operation and monitoring the management of the cranes from within the terminal.
Liebherr says the cranes will enable the terminal to meet shipping companies’ and South America’s latest requirements. Large Post-Panamax vessels calling to South America’s west coast, and central Chile has seen a 15% increase in container movement over the last three years.
