New Grove all-terrain crane building Birmingham University sports complex
One of the UK’s leading crane hire companies, Dewsbury & Proud, has added a new Grove GMK5130-2 all-terrain crane to its fleet of 35 Grove cranes. The crane is already hard at work, performing a wide range of lifts at a sports complex development at the University of Birmingham.
The 130 t capacity Grove GMK5130-2 is the second of its kind to join Dewsbury & Proud’s fleet in the last twelve months, as managing director, Tim Proud, explains.
“Grove cranes are tried and tested work horses that we know will work hard and always perform,” he says. “Our cranes are out working on different job sites across the Midlands every day of the week, and as a taxi crane company we need cranes that are easy to transport and quick to set up. Dewsbury & Proud will continue to buy Grove because of their competitive prices, exceptional aftercare, and reliability.”
In recent times Dewsbury & Proud’s fleet of Grove cranes have been put to work at construction and industrial job sites; water-treatment and utility plants; airports, large office complexes and football stadiums.
At the current University of Birmingham job site, the new Grove GMK5130-2 is lifting a wide variety of general construction materials, including pre-cast concrete, steel formwork, shuttering, concrete skips, and wall cages of varying sizes.
The new sports complex will include an Olympic-sized swimming pool, a sports hall containing 12 badminton courts, six squash courts, a climbing wall and two state-of-the-art gyms.
The highly versatile Grove GMK5130-2 all-terrain crane features a 60 m main boom that can be extended to 92 m with the hydraulic luffing fly jib. The crane, with its full counterweight, travels with just one truck, reducing transport costs and set-up time.
Dewsbury & Proud supplies its Grove cranes to projects at a wide range of job sites across the Midlands. The company operates four depots in Wolverhampton, Stoke-on-Trent, Coventry and Loughborough.
