Special Christmas Interview
People of Crane/Construction Sector on why they love Christmas.
Four Christmas Questions and that is what we had like the answers:
Larry Ireland, CEO/owner of Ireland Crane&Rigging.
Where do you spend the Christmas Festivities?
I will be spending Holidays at home and cooking turkey with all the trimmings for my two boys and my girlfriend. Prior to the 25 we will be skiing and snowboarding.
Christmas gift tips?
As far as gifts I prefer to take the people out and see what they want or need and proceed from there. I like to get people what they want not what I want to get them. If the person is difficult then to me the answer is gift cards.
Wishes for 2015?
My wish for people is to have a safe and fun holiday and do what you can to help others less fortunate. My goal for the holiday is to do an adopt a child program by purchasing gift for them and helping them to be happy on and after the holiday.

Peter Verhoef, Managing Director of 12hoist4u.
Where do you spend the Christmas Festivities?
I’ll spend them at home, with my friends, with my family. We are going to enjoy a very nice Christmas Dinner at my home with all our children and their friends. Being proud of my parents being in their mid eighties and just passed their 60th years of being married with each other, for sure I will bring a visit to my parents and meet my brother, sister and their children there. Hopefully we are going to get some nice winter wheather giving me the opportunity to spend several hours walking through the nature. If I’m really very lucky and we have several days with nice freezing weather, I’ll certainly be out there to do some speed skating. And of course their will be time for some nosing and tasting of good whisky.
Christmas gift tips?
It has got nothing to do with the amount of money you spend on the Christmass gift. Be creative, give something that really is very much appreciated but for sure not expected.
A defensive driving training for my Children who jast received their driving license is “fun, un-expected, a bit thrilling for them and in the same time good for their safe driving skills”.
Ask your parents suggestions for a present and they will answer: “we have everything we would like to have”. Is that true?? Give them the nicest picture from a photoshoot with all their grandchildren.
Wishes for 2015?
That everyone stays healthy, a laugh every day, a little bit more time for my wife and friends, safety to our industry and prosper to the world. And of course a steady and healthy growth of my company 12hoist4u.
What do you love about Cranesy.com?
What I love about Cranesy.com is their different approach of informing the market on developments in the crane industry. Using the modern way of communciation with all kinds of social media and thus making our industry even a smaller world than it already is and easier to bring your message around. Where do you spend the Christmas Festivities?
This year I went to pay for me and my daughters airfares to travel to Fiji to spend Christmas and New Year with my Father and family. I then found out that my youngest daughters passport has expired so the trip is now cancelled and we will be spending the Festive Season with my brother and his family in Brisbane.
Christmas gift tips?
Christmas, I believe, is a time where family gets together and enjoy the day and each others company, now days business have ruined the concept of Christmas many families go into debt every year, buying un necessary things for the sake of Christmas. When i was growing up my family did not have much money and Christmas was more meaningful back then cause we used to all get together and enjoy what little things my parents could afford. What little food they put on the table we shared and enjoyed, there was no such thing as Christmas presents. My mum used buy materials from tailor shops and sew our clothes to wear on Christmas day, we used to feel so very proud of our new clothes. Kids now days to not know what appreciation means, they dont know how to say please and thank you.

Where will you spend Christmas Festivities?
I am taking my son on a cruise for Christmas. Then, we are headed to Florida to visit family. A Christmas Vacation with no phones or computers – I am so excited!
Christmas gift tips?
I rather give than receive, so I love Christmas. I stick to small gifts, something special to let friends and family know I was thinking of them. I enjoy getting something that pertains to their hobbies or interests in lieu of gift cards or something with no significance. This is the season of giving, but always remember that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ was the best Gift of All!!
Wishes for New 2015 Year?
I hope to have the opportunity to attend some conferences this year and get to meet some of my clients face to face. My job mainly consists of office work and working with my clients, via email and phone, so I hope to have the opportunity to have more hands on experience this year. I also hope our industry continues to move forward this year. There is nothing better than watching our clients grow from number of employees to number of units in their fleet.
